Therapy that honors your whole story
Online therapy for those exploring identity, belonging, self-worth, and the deeper parts of their life story
My approach
Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. We will not only explore what’s bringing you to therapy, but your whole story. I believe healing happens when we create space for your whole self.
I believe therapy can be more than just words. I draw from approaches that recognize the ways our relationships, communities, cultures, and lived experiences shape us. This can include music, movement, storytelling, body awareness, and the ways our histories and environments influence how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I also believe healing can happen through connection, with the people, communities, and places that help us feel a sense of belonging.
In therapy, this might look like slowing down and noticing what’s happening in your body, making space for emotions, exploring identity and culture, reflecting on relationships and patterns, or finding new ways to reconnect with yourself. Together, we can make room for the parts of you that may have been overlooked, silenced, or shaped by expectations, and begin to listen to what you truly need.
For many of us in BIPOC communities, we carry loss, expectations, stories, and experiences that can shape us across generations. Healing can involve exploring how our histories and family experiences have influenced who we are, while also making space for what we want to carry forward and what we may want to leave behind. Together, we can explore what you’re carrying and make space for healing in ways that feel meaningful to you.
Although I am a therapist, I am not an expert on your life. You are the expert on your own experience. You don’t have to have all the answers, and you don’t need to be “fixed.” I believe healing happens in relationship, with ourselves and with others, not between an expert and a problem.
Therapy to me is a space where we can slow down, be curious together, and make sense of what you’re experiencing without judgment. In slowing down, we can begin to reconnect with the parts of you that may have felt lost.
What we might explore:
-
You may have spent years trying to fit in, meet expectations, or be what others need from you. This can happen from the messages we receive from our families, communities, and society about who we should be. This process can help you reconnect with yourself and feel more grounded in your identity.
-
On the outside you may look happy, some may even say successful, while on the inside you never feel like you’re doing enough. Sometimes you wonder when will I ever feel enough. Together we can unlearn the beliefs regarding what it means to be worthy and learn self-compassion. With more compassion for yourself, comes more happiness.
-
You might be carrying the loss of someone, or the loss of culture, tradition, or the home/land your family came from. Often, there’s more beneath grief. This can be a space to connect to what was lost, in a way that feels aligned with your needs.
-
You may find yourself wondering if you made the right the decision or missing what used to be. These feelings may be connected to periods of transformations in our life that mark the beginning of something new. Therapy can help you navigate life changes that feels aligned with your journey.
